Although our competitive season ended on Nov. 5th, about 30 athletes, friends and family members from the Enumclaw High School Cross Country Team volunteered their time on the Saturday following Veterans Day to help improve the trail around the perimeter of Deep Lake within Nolte State Park. With the assistance of dedicated staff from the Washington State Parks Department, the team was able to resurface about 30% of the trail, hard hit by heavy October rains, that so many citizens in our community enjoy on a regular basis.
In bringing back the Hornets Cross Country Program to Deep Lake as our home course we embraced the opportunity to improve a favorite local park, give back to the community and enhance a location that we utilize as a competitive venue. Many citizens using the park at the time of the event expressed their gratitude, showing that we can make a difference with a bit of effort and thoughtfulness. This event truly shows what the heart of Enumclaw Athletics is all about...Character, Competition and Community!
